Community Service

Community Service is an integral part of the ASMS program.  We believe that it is everyone's responsibility to take care of our community, and we dedicate time in the academic calendar to ensure that all students have the opportunity to find meaningful ways to contribute to the world beyond school.  All students at ASMS are required to complete 40 hours of community service on an annual basis.  Students are given an opportunity to earn hours through school sanctioned community service events, and the remaining hours are expected to be completed by them outside of school.  For many of our students, this is just the beginning of the commitment to service.  Some examples of volunteer opportunities include:

  • Packing backpacks for the Food Bank of the Southern Tier "Backpack Program"

  • Collecting food for various community food pantries

  • Kettle Ringing for the Salvation Army

  • Volunteering at the Wine Glass Marathon

  • Volunteering at a local animal shelter or library
