Affording ASMS

Financial Aid

The tuition for ASMS is $13,500 for the 2023-2024 academic year.

We are aware that, for many families, choosing an independent school education for their children requires a significant financial sacrifice. As such, the ASMS Board of Directors is committed to an active program of community fund-raising to secure ongoing funding for financial aid for students who meet admissions criteria and demonstrate financial need. Approximately 30 percent of our students receive some amount of financial assistance through this program.

It is the philosophy of ASMS to grant financial aid only when the student’s family has demonstrated financial need, as documented by a completed financial aid application. In granting annual financial aid awards, preference will be given to enrolled students already receiving financial aid.

ASMS has enlisted the services of FACTS, a company that provides business solutions for education. FACTS will be conducting the financial need analysis for ASMS for the coming year. Families applying for financial aid will need to complete an application and submit the necessary supporting documentation to FACTS Grant and Aid Assessment by February 28 to be considered for an award in the upcoming school year.  Applicants can apply online (one application per family) by clicking the FACTS link that can be found below.

Weeks Family Local 1000 Scholarship

To further assist prospective students afford to attend The Alternative School for Math & Science, the Weeks family established the Weeks Family Local 1000 Scholarship for children and grandchildren of active and retired members of the United Steelworkers (USW) Union Local 1000. The scholarship will cover the full cost of tuition for up to 2 students in each grade level, 6th through 8th, for the duration of their attendance at the school. It is important to the school and the Weeks family that the children of our Local 1000s members have the opportunity to be part of our school community.

The scholarship form is available as part of the school’s admissions application packet given to prospective students and can be downloaded along with the admissions application on the Admissions page of the ASMS website. If you have questions regarding the scholarship or the process, please contact Jessica Ortiz at ortizjo@tasms.com.
