Our challenging standards-based curriculum emphasizes the development of essential skills, the understanding of important concepts, and the ability to apply learning to real-world problems. 

 

Our curriculum includes courses of study for all students in English language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, world languages, music, visual arts, physical education, and health.  In addition, students take grade-specific trimester courses in technology, research, and study skills which are designed to support their integrated learning experience.

Grade 6
Learning Resources

ASMS offers trimester-long courses in study skills (MS101) and technology which are designed to support student learning in the classroom. Course content is determined by specific needs expressed at each grade level, and skills learned are expected to be applied by students as they develop into self-aware learners in a technological age.

Technology 6

Students at ASMS use technology as an everyday tool in the processes of learning. 

Sixth grade students are introduced to Google apps for education and learn how to manage a calendar, access email, and organize files on Google Drive. Students are also taught how to access and analyze information on the internet.
